As of November 2011, Yaose is free software. It is released under the GNU General Public License. This means that anyone can make improvments to Yaose. Except for idealistic reasons, I have a very practial reason for making Yaose open-source: I do not have enough time to provide up-to-date versions of Yaose. Ogre is ever changing, and I can't keep up developing. Why should the community have to wait for me? I hope that by making Yaose free software, it can be updated more frequently, and perhaps other people can contribute nice features (like support for other syntaxes).
All versions after 3.0.0.0 are free software, and the source code can be obtained from Gitorious.
